IMPORTANT CUSTOMER GUIDANCE

GGF visual quality standard.

This is the inspection guidance Secmite uses when explaining the acceptable visual quality of installed insulating glass units made from flat transparent glass.

SECMITE KEY GUIDANCE

Visual quality standard for installed insulating glass units

The GGF document explains how sealed units should be viewed, the normal vision area, acceptable minor visual phenomena, toughened/laminated glass effects, double reflections and Brewster’s Fringes. It also notes that the criteria do not apply in the same way to patterned glass.
Inspection distancesFlat transparent glass is viewed at not less than 2 metres. Toughened, laminated or coated glass is viewed at not less than 3 metres, in natural daylight and not direct sunlight. The normal vision area excludes a 50 mm perimeter band.
